| ACCES-OCEAN - BIJOUX CAROLINE GRANDPIERRE-ANDERSON born in Charleville in France is the name behind the jewelry line ACCES-OCEAN. After attending L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1968 (Arts Plastiques), she was involved in The Factory in New York. She was also the lighting designer with a modern dance company for many years. The Line ACCES-OCEAN started in 1975. Caroline’ work has been sold in Galleries in Paris, San Francisco, New York. Her jewelry has been featured in publicity shots for Christian Dior, Helmut Lang, Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lancôme and Guerlain. Some of her creations have often been compared as being more like sculpture than jewelry. She uses different mediums such as resin, metal, wood, polyurethane and plexiglass. It is jewelry and art. Every piece tells a story of its own. Following the trail of the dolphins, Caroline came to the Bahamas to study and play with those wonderful water-creatures and, after spending a few years in Abaco, she now lives in Freeport with her husband Tyrone. |
| THIERRY LAMARE - Artiste Peintre Born in 1957 in the Parisian suburb of Saint Germain-en-Laye. Thierry studied art at the Atelier du Sculpteur Etienne Martin and interior design and architecture at the Ecole Camando. Thierry began experimenting with watercolour during his first visit to the Bahamas in 1985. His controlled technique treats watercolour almost as oil paint, building layer upon layer, providing luminosity and depth to his work. Throughout his artistic life Thierry has studied and been influenced by such masters as Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Thomas Eakins, Johannes Vermeer and Andrew Wyeth. However, according to Thierry, studying the paintings of Andrew Wyeth, the American realist, has provided him with the strongest technical influence, namely the importance of light and shadow. Clearly the element of interest in a scene painted by Thierry is the contrast between light and dark. Each subject is very personal for Thierry in both selection and execution. Influenced by his annual visits to many of the surrounding islands of the Bahamas, and through years of dedication Thierry's unique style has matured and developed. His paintings capture Bahamian life through scenes that show us vivid examples of island living and his love and understand of the people he paints. Married to Bahamian Joie Brown, They, with their two children divide their time between France and the Bahamas. The support from Coutts Bahamas Limited and private collectors has enabled Thierry to exhibit a collection of his work annually in the Bahamas since 1989. His paintings may be found in the private collections throughout the Bahamas, France, England and the United States, along with the collections of Swiss Bank International, Templeton, Global Advisors Limited and Fidelity Bank and Trust International. |
